Ethiopia is the birthplace of some beautiful and unique coffees, and Arsoala is no exception.

While most coffee from this part of the world is a mix of wild and unspecified varieties labelled ‘Heirloom’, Arsoala has been carefully cultivated from Typica and Bourbon varieties, which are more commonly found in Central America. The washing station where it comes from comprises of around 1,200 smallholder producers who take their coffee seriously.

Only the ripest cherries are picked then de-pulped and dried for anywhere between 8 to 20 days, depending on the sun and rate of moisture loss. This results in the wonderfully unique but also distinctly Ethiopian coffee that you enjoy today.
