This Kenyan coffee is proof that when we work together, we can create incredible results. In Kenya, the average farmer has only around one-quarter of a hectare to grow multiple crops. They often rely on support from cooperatives to purchase and produce coffee, which is where Mihuti comes in. Each season, the Mihuti Cooperative puts aside some funds to use as pre-financing for producers, so these farmers can invest in agronomy practices, cover their harvesting overheads, and ensure high-quality yields. Once the coffee is delivered in cherry form to Mihuti’s processing plant, each lot is de-pulped and fermented overnight. In the morning, the coffee is washed, placed on raised beds, and dried to the perfect moisture level over 7-15 days. The end result? A delicious coffee that is not only traceable but a testament to teamwork.
