In early 2010, MTC and the Colbran family joined in a unique specialty coffee partnership, with the aim to bypass the large multinational exporters and focus on unique, small lot specialty coffees. Boana is sourced from surrounding small-holder coffee communities who delivery fresh cherry to the Baroida wet mill collection. The cherry is sorted and checked for quality and the growers are paid on the spot for their crop. The coffee is processed by the Colbrnas at the Baroida mill. The Colbran family continue to push the quality envelope in one of the most challenging coffee. Flavor profiles here are incredibly unique, with an intense and vibrant fruit-forward expression.

Passionate about coffee the Colbran family moved from New Zealand to PNG in 1963. They started a farm growing different fruits and vegetables to fund the land further. Eventually a saw mill was set up with the savings which in turn was able to generate enough capital to support the coffee dream. The farm was sold in 79 but bought back by the Colbran family in 97. They now not only grow and produce their own coffee but also help the surrounding region through production and marketing support of the nearby farms. This lot in particular is sourced from multiple smallholder farms in the region and produced by the Cobran family in their processing mill with the passion and care they have fostered for almost 50 years.
