☕️ Coffee for thought: Imagine a world where we never need to produce virgin plastic again. A world with infinitely recyclable plastic, a clean, green, closed-loop system. Well, we're one step closer - read on! ☕️

At Pablo & Rusty’s Coffee Roasters, “sustainability” isn’t just a buzzword – it’s one of our core values. That’s why we’re excited to announce our partnership with Paco Industries, an innovative Australian startup, to revolutionise packaging in Australia.

Paco Industries

Pioneering collaboration:

Over the past 6 months, we’ve been working closely with Paco Industries and the University of New South Wales to address packaging challenges in the food & beverage market.

Breakthrough technology:

Together, we’re exploring an organic solvent technology to transform contaminated PET plastic into virgin material. This breakthrough has the potential to reshape recycling processes and significantly reduce plastic waste worldwide.

Environmental impact:

Sustainability has always been at the core of Pablo and Rusty's Coffee Roasters. As a Sydney-based specialty coffee roaster, we are committed to delivering exceptional coffee experiences while minimising our environmental footprint. We actively reduce, reuse, and repurpose much of our waste output.

Our coffee subscription service and one-off coffee purchases allow coffee enthusiasts to get specialty coffees delivered to their doorstep. Our coffee subscription program does create waste, waste we’re in part responsible for. One aspect we’re proud of is our coffee deliveries are carbon neutral through our Climate Active Carbon Neutral Organisation certification, which does reduce the negative impact of transportation.

This is one of a number of waste and emissions savings we have in place, however, we can't stop there. We need to improve every aspect of our production process to reduce or negate our negative impact. Partnering with Paco opens a world of opportunities for our packaging and beyond..

Future Prospects:

By 2025 we’re committed to ensuring all of our packaging is compostable or recyclable. This goal is by no means an easy one. We’ve discussed the challenges of packaging sustainability in previous articles. Our Partnership with Paco Industries, UNSW and its technology could redefine recycling and pave the way for a greener, more sustainable future. From reducing and eliminating plastic waste to exploring alternative materials, we’re committed to driving positive change in the industry.

“We’ve always been at the forefront of sustainability. Working with Paco Industries and UNSW to address packaging issues has led to some promising developments. It makes sense for us to be looking at new technologies, as sustainability is at the heart of what we do.” - Abdullah Ramay, CEO of Pablo & Rusty’s Coffee Roasters

As we embark on this journey with Paco Industries, UNSW, we invite you, our community, to be part of our innovation journey, helping create a greener future. Together, we can make a difference, one cup of specialty coffee at a time.
